A genuinely prepared environment
Full material sets per classroom — not one Pink Tower shared between rooms while children queue. Defined age bands, low ratios, and an environment you arrange the way your observations tell you to.
At most preschools, parents thank “the school.” Read ours and you’ll find teachers named, one by one, by families who noticed exactly who did the work. That doesn’t happen because of marketing — we don’t advertise on ranking sites at all. It happens because our directresses are given a prepared environment, real support staff, and the freedom to follow the child.
Most preschool job posts describe a place that doesn’t exist. Here is the honest version, so you can rule us out in ninety seconds if we’re wrong for you.
A promise is a feeling. An arrangement is a fact. These are the specific arrangements that make the feeling possible — and you’re welcome to hold us to every one of them in your interview.
Full material sets per classroom — not one Pink Tower shared between rooms while children queue. Defined age bands, low ratios, and an environment you arrange the way your observations tell you to.
No textbooks. No syllabus borrowed from a formal school. No weeks of annual-day rehearsal eating the work cycle. Follow the child is the operating instruction here, not the tagline.
It is also why we take certified directresses only — for the core programme, there is no version of this that works with untrained hands.
Montessori Directress and Senior Montessori Directress. Nothing else. There is no middle tier whose job is to manage upward, because there is no middle tier.
Aparna, our co-founder, is on the floor — not behind a door you need an appointment to open. Parents write about this in their reviews; you’ll see it on your first morning.
Every candidate for a classroom role is interviewed by the directresses who would work alongside them, and their assessment is not advisory. If the team says no, the answer is no.
We know of no other school that does this. It’s also why the promise of a politics-free staff room is safe to make — a school where teachers choose their own colleagues has given away the instrument politics runs on.
Assistants, housekeeping, front office, care and transport staff are employed as their own roles. You are not clearing up after snack, chasing a fee reminder, or standing in at the gate.
No admissions work. No marketing. No school tours. Not one hour of your week goes to filling seats.
A protected planning block sits in your timetable. Album work, material preparation and record-keeping are budgeted for in the day — not smuggled into your evening.
Parent communication runs through school channels in school hours. Your personal phone is yours after you leave.
Observations and progress records go into a system you can reach from anywhere. If your child is unwell or you’re away visiting family, the reporting doesn’t pin you to a desk in Whitefield.
External workshops, refresher modules and diploma courses are co-funded by the school.
Core Montessori roles go to certified directresses only. Specialist work — music, performing arts, sport, art and craft, languages — goes to practitioners with real credentials in their own field.
The pleasant consequence: some days you will be the least experienced person in the room. That is where the learning is.
A mother writing about her twins remarked: “the coaches — yes, the teachers are indeed coaches for the kids.”
That is a sentence a parent writes about a school only when she feels the real heartfelt contribution from the teachers.
Money is not the only currency a career pays in. Where you work, how you are spoken to, whose company you keep, and whether anyone outside the building knows your name — these compound over a lifetime in a way a salary revision does not. We have been deliberate about all four.
We have two teaching designations, and we mean to keep it that way.
Your own prepared environment, with an assistant. You observe, plan, keep records and hold the parent relationships for your children.
The same work, held to a deeper standard — and the person newer directresses learn from by watching. Not an administrative role, and it never becomes one.
Session-based, for practitioners with standing in their own field who want a few hours a week with children who are genuinely allowed to concentrate. Montessori certification isn’t expected here; credentials in your own discipline are.
The reason our directresses can teach. Parents thank these colleagues by name in their reviews, which tells you how the school regards them.
Honorary partners. If you’re an individual or organisation with a philanthropic outlook, you can work with our regular students and with Mont Ivy Social Impact. Apply through the same form and tell us what you’d like to bring.
Each item here is ordinary practice somewhere in this city, and each one is a reason a good teacher eventually leaves a school she otherwise liked. Ask us about any of them in the interview.
We don’t have an Annual Day. Every morning is special, and we protect every one of them.
Teachers tell us the worst part of job-hunting is the silence. So here is the whole process in advance, including the timings we hold ourselves to.

Within 3 working daysWe schedule a visit to the school for the meetings. You get to know us and vice versa.
At your convenienceRole, terms, hours and expectations, all on paper.
Within 5 working days of the visitNot for a classroom role. We take certified directresses only, and we don’t make exceptions — it is the promise the school makes to every parent, and the reason the method actually works here. Specialist faculty in music, art, sport and languages are a different matter: there we look for credentials in your own discipline. If you’re currently in training, write to us when you finish; we’d be glad to hear from you then.
What we’ll say here is that we have set out to maximise the experience of working at Mont Ivy rather than maximizing the salary line — the days, the standing, the colleagues, the fact that you go home at the end of the school day. Teachers who stay with us for years stay for those reasons, while they get compensated fairly over time. But if pay is your first criterion, we’d rather you found that out now than in month four.
No — provided your certification is in hand. A number of the finest directresses we’ve met came back to work after raising their own children. If your child is between 15 months and seven years, the staff concession and free day-care usually make the arithmetic work.
Then you have understood the job correctly, and you are the person this page is written for. There is no point at which we decide you have been a directress long enough. We have exactly two designations and neither of them is administrative.
Less than you’d think. We’re at Villa 10, Prestige Sunflower, ECC Road, Whitefield — and several of our directresses travel a fair distance to get here, happily, for years. What makes that sustainable is that the day ends when the school day ends and nothing follows you home.
It means two designations and no tier in between whose job is to manage upward. It means a co-founder on the floor rather than behind a door. And most of all, it means the teachers here interview and approve every new colleague — a school that hands its staff a veto over hiring has given away the instrument politics runs on. Test the claim directly: ask to speak to a current directress alone, and we’ll arrange it.
Yes, and you should. We hire ahead of need when we meet the right person.
